Trump describes assassination attempt in X Spaces chat

In an interview with X Spaces – which was supposed to promote his new crypto company, World Liberty Financial – Trump said he was playing golf with some friends when “we suddenly heard gunshots in the air, and – I guess there were four or five – and it sounded like bullets.”

Trump said the Secret Service agents accompanying him “knew immediately that they were bullets, and they grabbed me” and took him out of the area in golf carts.

The former president said another agent on the golf course fired the shots he heard after spotting the muzzle of a gun in the bushes, adding that the suspect was unable to fire a shot, corroborating law enforcement's account.

Trump also praised a civilian present in the area who took a photo of the suspect's vehicle's license plate and showed it to the sheriff's office, calling it “key” to his arrest.

When asked why he thought a second attempt on his life was being planned, the former president blamed the Democrats: “A lot of people think the Democrats are talking about a 'threat to democracy' and things like that. And it seems like both of those people were radical leftists.”
