JMM calls Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Jharkhand an election campaign ploy

Supriyo Bhattacharya, central spokesperson of JMM, today termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jharkhand as a mere election stunt. Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said the Prime Minister tried hard to show his solidarity with the people of Jharkhand. He congratulated the people on the Karma festival. However, he forgot to say on which festival he was congratulating. The Railway Minister did not attend the railway programme yesterday. He said no minister from the state government was present at the venue.

Bhattacharya said the government programme has become a party programme. Local people's representatives have not been highlighted in this programme as they are all JMM MPs. BJP leaders have been highlighted in the Sunday programme. There are two ministers of our government in this district but none has been invited.

He further said that the central government has now started fearing Hemant Soren. Sunday's manifesto is proof of this. Till date, no one has seen a prime minister travel 130 km by road for an election manifesto. Modi's government at the centre is on crutches. The central government has not yet clarified its position on Sarna religion. They should discuss it. The result of the assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir is clear. Only the formalities are missing. He said that the BJP is sure to lose the assembly elections in the state.

Now many BJP leaders are coming to Jharkhand out of fear. The Prime Minister is so scared of Hemant Soren's work that he is now discussing the work of the Hemant government in his meetings.

Supriyo said that NH 33 was closed for about 9 hours yesterday. NH is the backbone of Jharkhand and was closed for 9 hours yesterday. It connects many states. The fact that BJP is doing so much for the election clearly shows that it is afraid of losing here. He also advised the central government that if a programme is to be implemented, it should not be converted into a party programme.
