Joshua vs. Dubois: Date, fight time, preliminary fights, latest odds, prediction and ring walks

After being knocked off the top step by Andy Ruiz in 2019 and Oleksandr Usyk two years later, Joshua now has the opportunity to once again claim the IBO world title and take a big step towards a potentially undisputed title.

The rebuild since those Usyk losses has been impressive and increasingly convincing, starting with wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius before then brutally dispatching Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

The 34-year-old will be facing a fellow Brit for the first time since his victory over Dillian Whyte in 2015. Dubois is the man on the other side of the ring. A red-hot atmosphere is expected and up to 96,000 spectators will be in attendance.

Dubois was declared world champion in June when Usyk surrendered one of the belts he successfully defended against Tyson Fury in May to become undisputed champion. With the IBF demanding that he face his mandatory challenger rather than a rematch with Fury, the Ukrainian decided to surrender the belt as a “gift” to the two British fighters.

Dubois also lost to Usyk last year, under controversial circumstances, but recovered to beat Jarrell Miller and most recently Filip Hrgovic to win the IBF interim title. He answered all questions about his heart in those two combative performances, even though they were both tough encounters.

The 27-year-old will now attempt to defend his title for the first time against Joshua; the winner will face either Usyk or Fury for all the heavyweight belts next year.

Date, start time, venue and ring walks for Joshua vs. Dubois

The fight is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024 and will take place at Wembley Stadium in London.

The card is scheduled to begin at around 4pm BST, with ring entrances for the main event expected to take place at around 11pm, depending on the length of the previous evening's fights.

TV channels and live stream: Joshua vs. Dubois will be broadcast live in the UK on DAZN pay-per-view, Sky Sports Box Office and TNT Sports Box Office.

DAZN has announced that the card will be available for £19.99, which includes a seven-day free trial of the platform.

Sky Sports charges £19.95 and coverage begins at 4pm BST. TNT Sports charges £19.99 and coverage also begins at 4pm.

Prediction for Joshua vs Dubois

Joshua has won four fights in a row since his two losses to Usyk, putting in an impressive performance along the way, with trainer Ben Davison having a positive influence on the return to a more aggressive style.

Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin have been swept aside, but this is now a new step and the power that Dubois possesses will test Joshua's regained confidence and show how much he is willing to risk getting hit in order to prevail and take the lead.

Dubois, on the other hand, will have to deal with the situation as this is by far the biggest fight of his career. He performed well against both Usyk, although he was unable to capitalize on his advantage following the low blow controversy, and Hrgovic, although he took a lot of beating in both fights and certainly cannot afford that here.

The history books suggest an explosive fight is in store, as only one of Dubois' professional fights has gone on points and Joshua has only won one fight that lasted 12 rounds since 2019. He has shown recently that he is at his best when he tries to use his natural power and get things done early.

It will be an exciting contest, but Joshua has the experience advantage and looks like a new man under Davison. He can do his job here and set the stage for a mega fight with Fury or even a third contest against Usyk in 2025.
