Leg amputation after bone cancer: Drama surrounding Union Berlin’s young goalkeeper

He wanted to become a professional footballer, but unfortunately this dream is over. The 19-year-old talented goalkeeper Berkin Arslanogullari from Union Berlin has been diagnosed with bone cancer. Despite chemotherapy, an amputation of the left lower leg was necessary to stop the progression of the disease.

Now Berkin Arslanogullari is seeking the support of all football fans, as the costs of treatment, rehabilitation and adaptation to his family's new living conditions are financially overwhelming.

A friend of the family has therefore launched a fundraising campaign. A barrier-free apartment is particularly urgently needed, and a prosthetic leg is still pending. The association and its foundation are supporting the campaign both financially and by spreading the word through their channels. Arslanogullari is currently still undergoing chemotherapy.
