John William Griffin sent to Mississippi prison

COLBERT CO., Alabama (WAFF) – The man accused of leading Colbert County officers on a chase has been booked into a Mississippi jail.

John William Griffin was booked into the Tishomingo County Jail on Tuesday, September 10, on $1.78 million bail.

According to the Colbert County Sheriff's Office, Griffin was shot and killed by officers in late August after leading them on a multi-state chase.

The chase began in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, and ended in Colbert County.

They said officers shot Griffin after he shot at them.

He was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. He was released on September 9, 2024.
