“I’ll be glad when you’re gone” – Old tweet from the man who tried to assassinate Trump resurfaces

Old tweets from Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect arrested in the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump, have resurfaced.

The suspect fired shots near Trump on Sunday at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Despite the shooting, Trump was not injured because the US secret service immediately discovered the suspect.

In a tweet shared in June 2020, Routh wrote: “@realDonaldTrump. Although you were my choice in 2016, I and the world hoped President Trump would be different and better than the nominee, but we were all very disappointed and it seems you are getting worse and regressing. Are you retarded? I'll be glad when you're gone.”

The US Secret Service said the investigation into the incident was still ongoing.

DAILY POST points out that a similar attempt on the former president's life was made during his election campaign in Pennsylvania.
