Woman charged with murder after fatal stabbing in east London

A woman has been charged with murder after another woman was stabbed to death in east London, police said.

Hope Rowe, 32, from Tower Hamlets, has also been charged with possession of a sharp object and is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Monday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Officers were called at around 1.17am on Sunday to reports that a woman had suffered stab wounds in the foyer of a block of flats in Duckett Street, Tower Hamlets.

London Ambulance Services were also on site and reported that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are certain that the deceased is 31-year-old Charlotte Lawler. However, an official identification has not yet been made.

Their next of kin have been informed and are being looked after by specially trained staff.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime but was released on bail, police said on Monday morning.

There is still a crime scene at the address and investigations are ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information that may be helpful to call 101 or contact @MetCC on social media site X (formerly Twitter), quoting 'CAD480/15Sep'.
