According to the report, a 60-year-old man was driving his VW west on Steinkühlerweg at 9:40 a.m. According to consistent witness statements, he overtook a bus that was stopped in front of him near the “Am Remberg” bus stop, but he “suddenly accelerated sharply” and drove his car into oncoming traffic.

The driver (56) of an oncoming Kia could no longer avoid the car. The cars crashed head-on into each other.

The 60-year-old may have suffered a medical emergency at the time of the accident, which could explain the sudden acceleration. The vehicles were no longer drivable. The police estimated the material damage at 60,000 euros.
