Where should we rank veteran Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday in the NBA's top 100? The UCLA graduate was ranked 54th overall by HoopsHype's Frank Urbina and Raul Barrigon ahead of the start of the 2024-25 NBA season, and that feels just right for the two-time NBA champion.

In the Celtics' 2023-24 season, Holiday averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 48% overall from the field and 42.9% from beyond the three-point line. The Los Angeles, California native earned $30,000,000 last season and was a key part of Boston's run to the No. 18 spot, and one could even argue that he deserves a higher ranking despite his age of 34.

“The Celtics were so great in 2023-24 mainly because they not only had an excellent, role-playing two-way point guard in White, but also a second, even more proven one in Holiday, who is also so good in his role that he also earned a spot on Team USA in the summer of 2024 (…),” writes H/H. “Holiday remains one of the best defensive guards in the NBA and is also a capable scorer and playmaker when needed.”

“He even has a skilled off-ball slashing game that is a perfect fit for a team as strong as Boston, as well as excellent shooting ability from beyond the three-point line,” they add.

“Holiday, a two-time All-Star, may not be able to reach that All-Star level again with the Celtics … but in his role he is without a doubt a star, a player who is all about winning and has the talent on both sides to have a major impact on making that happen every night.”
