That’s how long the Hertha BSC star will be out!

Berlin – Used Sunday for Hertha BSC: The Berliners wanted the third victory in the series, slept in the top game against Fortuna Dusseldorf (0:2) but once again in standard situations and to make matters worse, they also have to worry about Linus Gechter (20). The worst fears seem to be confirmed: Gechter may even be out in the first half of the season!

Hertha has not yet released an official diagnosis, but as Bild reports, the central defender has broken his left collarbone. He is scheduled to undergo surgery this Monday.

The break: six to twelve weeks. In the worst case scenario, the 20-year-old, who fought for a regular place under Fiél, would not be fit again until the end of the year.

“It looked really bad,” said Diego Demme (32) after the party. His own teammate Deyovaisio Zeefuik (26) had unfortunately cleared the defender. Gechter then had to be treated for a long time.

First on the field, then under cover at the edge of the pitch. Then it's straight to the hospital.

“I have a feeling that it could take a little longer,” said head coach Christian Fiél (44). Unfortunately, this turned out to be true. If the collarbone is broken, the player will be out for at least six weeks. However, since football is a contact sport and there is a risk of falling on the collarbone again, the downtime can double.

This means that Hertha suddenly has a defensive problem within just two weeks: John Anthony Brooks (31), Kempf's successor, will be out for weeks. The 31-year-old was injured in training just a few days after his return. Now Gechter is the next long-term absence.

With captain Toni Leistner (34), Marton Dardai (22) and Pascal Klemens (19), Fiél only has three healthy defenders at his disposal for the next few weeks.
