The latest addition to their infamous ranks is “Baby Reindeer” star Jessica Gunning, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries.

There's a new legendary TV villain in town.

On Sunday night, the Emmys brought together the trio of Giancarlo Esposito, Antony Starr and Kathy Bates to represent the villains' rich history on the small screen and present the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Anthology Series or Movie.

Starr has of course made a name for himself with the role of Homelander, the superhero who is actually a supervillain, in The boys. Bates won an Oscar for his portrayal of Annie Wilkes, the first crazy fan, in the 1990s miseryHowever, she later transferred her villainy to television with recurring roles in American Horror Story (she even won an Emmy in exactly this category for her role in the Witches' Circle season). Esposito is best known on television for his role as drug lord Gus Fring in breaking Bad And Better call Saulbut he is such an incomparable villain that he has used his talents to The boys also where he plays Vought CEO Stan Edgar.

What really unites all of these TV villains, however, is the fact that their roles often spill over into real life.

“My American Horror Story was that I forgot to thank Ryan Murphy when I won my Emmy,” Bates said, which may explain why she hasn't appeared in the horror anthology series since 2018.

“For me, the flip side is that when drug dealers want a nice, quiet, upscale dining experience, they start asking me for advice on how to build their empire,” Esposito said.

“Then there are the critics, like 12-year-olds, telling me I'm a bad superhero,” Starr said. “They're too young to watch the show anyway! Sloppy, sloppy parenting.”

As they presented their awards, the trio of iconic villains welcomed another member to their ranks: Jessica Gunning, who played stalker Martha Scott Baby reindeer.

“My greatest thanks go to Mr. Richard Gadd,” Gunning said in her acceptance speech, referring to the star, creator and author of Baby reindeer“I have tried so many times to put into words what Baby reindeer meant to me, and I fail every time, so I'm going to sing…” Gunning continued with a laugh, “I'm going to keep it simple and say thank you for trusting me to be your Martha. I will never, ever forget her and you.”

Baby reindeer is inspired by Gadd's real-life experiences, and a woman named Fiona Harvey claims that the character Martha is based on her. In June, Harvey filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix for $170 million. “Your actions have severely impacted my physical and, more importantly, my mental well-being,” Gadd said of Harvey in a lawsuit, and Netflix has since admitted that Harvey was never convicted of stalking but was subject to a court order.
