US election: Donald Trump safe after shooting near him

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is safe after an incident in which two people fired shots outside his golf club in Florida. New York Post Reports citing law enforcement sources.

Trump's campaign team had previously said in a statement that he was safe after shots were fired near him, but did not provide any details.

US intelligence said the incident was under investigation and occurred shortly before 2 p.m.

“The former president is safe,” the Secret Service said.

A law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation said officials were trying to determine whether the shots were fired near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach or on the property.
