Donald Trump says: “I hate Taylor Swift!”

Former President Donald Trump took aim at Taylor Swift in a Truth Social post on Sunday, explaining his dislike for the superstar after she supported his opponentformer Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump wrote in the post.

His announcement appeared online less than a week after Swift first publicly announced her plans to Harristhe Democratic candidate in this year’s presidential election. Her support followed the first debate on September 10 between Trump and Harris, in which the two candidates faced off in a televised showdown in Philadelphia over issues such as abortion, immigration, the economy and foreign policy.

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift said in an Instagram post. “I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a fighter to represent them. I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos.”

Swift also expressed her support for Walz, the Minnesota governor who was nominated as Harris's vice presidential running mate, stressing that he has “advocated for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women's rights to their own bodies for decades.”

The artist signed with “Childless cat lady” to end her post, which was accompanied by a photo of Swift holding a cat, echoing comments made recently by Trump's running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio. In a 2021 interview, Vance lamented that the country was run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives.” Vance later said he had been being sarcastic.

Swift confirmed the post that Trump had recently shared AI-generated images on his Truth Social account that showed women wearing “Swifties for Trump” t-shirts, falsely suggesting she had supported him. This included a satirical post claiming that Swift's fans were “turning to Trump” after safety concerns arose. led to the cancellation of their concerts in Vienna in August.

“I accept!” Trump wrote when he posted the fake photos.

Swift said the incident had triggered in her “fears related to artificial intelligence and the danger of spreading misinformation.”

“I've come to the conclusion that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election,” she said. “The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

While it is unclear what impact Swift’s support might have, it Instagram post went 405,999 users visit the vote.gov site over the course of the following day.
