Israel kills 9 Palestinians in bomb attacks in Gaza Strip, including a school for displaced people

GAZA CITY, Palestine

On Sunday, nine Palestinians were killed and several others injured in Israeli air strikes on various areas in the Gaza Strip. One of the strikes was a school in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip that houses displaced people.

Five Palestinians were killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack on a group of civilians in the Zeitoun district in the east of the city, the Palestinian Civil Defense said in a statement.

Another statement from the Palestinian branch said an Israeli airstrike killed two Palestinians and injured numerous others while they were collecting firewood west of Gaza.

According to a medical source at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, an elderly man and a child were killed in an airstrike on the home of the “Nemr” family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.

In the north of the Gaza Strip, an Anadolu correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes bombed the Ghazi al-Shawa school in Beit Hanoun, where hundreds of displaced families lived, with three rockets and completely destroyed it.

According to eyewitnesses, just minutes before the bombing, the Israeli army contacted the displaced Palestinians in the school and asked them to evacuate.

The attack left several people injured and the displaced people, including children, panicked and frightened, eyewitnesses said.

Israel has continued its brutal offensive against Gaza since a Hamas attack last October, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

According to local health authorities, more than 41,200 people, mostly women and children, have been killed and over 95,300 injured since then.

The Israeli attack has displaced almost the entire population of the area. The ongoing blockade is leading to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice for its actions in the Gaza Strip.
