The police reacted immediately, arrested BMW driver Gajendra Pratap Singh (28), a native of Gwalior, and filed a complaint against the accused under Section 105 (intentional killing) of the BNS.

In a tragic incident in the Indian state of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, two women were killed when their two-wheeler was allegedly hit by a speeding BMW, police said on Sunday.

The accident, which was recorded by a CCTV camera, occurred around 11.30 pm on Saturday when two women – Diksha Jadon (25) and Lakshmi Tomar (24) – were returning home after visiting a fair. The accused, who was allegedly driving the car recklessly and in the wrong direction, collided with the two-wheeler.

According to the footage, the women's scooter was rammed by an oncoming BMW and thrown into the air. Both women were taken to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The victims were residents of Tulsinagar district in Indore.

However, the driver fled the scene of the accident after the collision.

On receiving the information, the police immediately took cognizance of the case and launched a manhunt for the accused. The police reacted promptly and arrested the BMW driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh (28), a native of Gwalior, and registered a case against the accused under Section 105 (intentional killing) of the BNS.

“A BMW coming from the wrong direction near Titan showroom in Khajrana police station area hit two women on a scooter, who died while undergoing treatment. Police arrested the accused, registered a case for intentional killing under BNS Section 105 and sent him to jail, police said.

According to police, the accused stated that he had recently purchased the car used and works for the company Task US. Police further said that the accused was in a hurry to celebrate his friend's birthday and was driving in the wrong direction as he was carrying the cake.

Further investigations are ongoing, police said.

In another incident on Friday, a 17-year-old boy was killed and two others injured when their bicycle was allegedly hit by a speeding car on the Western Express Highway in the Mumbai suburb of Dahisar.

Last week, a worker from Ganesh Mandal was killed and another seriously injured after they were allegedly hit by a speeding BMW during preparations for Ganeshotsav in Mumbai's Mulund. Two workers – Pritam Thorat and Prasad Patil from Mulund Cha Raja Ganesh Mandal – were putting up banners near Aakruti Tower in Gavanpada area of ​​the city when they were hit and run over by a speeding BMW.
