Bridgewater police investigate anonymous caller who threatened child

According to Bridgewater Police, police are investigating an anonymous caller who threatened a child with a gun on Thursday afternoon.

Officers began investigating the incident around noon on Sept. 12 after a parent reported the call at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, police said in a news release. In response to the report, school officials ordered a curfew and notified police.

Out of an “excessive caution,” officers searched the building several times for weapons but found none, police said. The curfew was lifted at around 1:45 p.m. and the students were released.

“Police have concluded that there is no active threat to the school community and that the threat was not credible,” Bridgewater police wrote in their press release.

Detectives have been investigating the case since Thursday afternoon and are trying to identify a suspect, police said. No charges have been filed.
