Israel was hit by long-range missiles from Yemen and 40 missiles from Lebanon in early morning attacks

Israel was hit by long-range missiles from Yemen and 40 missiles from Lebanon in early morning attacks

According to the Israeli military, a long-range missile fired from Yemen landed in central Israel early Sunday.

The attack triggered air raid sirens in the area and local media showed images of what appeared to be a fragment of a missile or interceptor landing at a train station in the central city of Modi'in.

There were no reports of casualties or damage from the rocket, but authorities observed a fire in the rural area. The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that “an initial investigation indicates that the rocket most likely fragmented in the air.” They also said that fallen fragments of their missile interceptors caused minor damage at the Modiin base.

Before a meeting of his government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Houthis and Israel's enemies: “They should know that we demand a high price for every attempted attack. Anyone who needs to be reminded of this is invited to visit the port of Hodeidah,” adding: “Whoever attacks us will not escape our attack.”

In addition to the attack from Yemen, around 40 missiles were fired from Lebanon early Sunday morning, according to the Israeli military. Some were intercepted, while the rest landed in open areas, the military said.

The Times of Israel reported that the Houthis claimed responsibility for Sunday's missile attack, claiming it was a hypersonic missile fired from Yemen.

Local media reported sounds of explosions coming from the missile, but the Israeli military later said the noise came from the interceptors.

Houthi fighters in vehicles

Houthi fighters operate heavy machine guns on vehicles during a rally in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and during recent Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. On Monday, the group attacked a merchant ship in the Red Sea.

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have repeatedly fired drones and rockets at Israel since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which began after the terror group's attack on the Jewish state on October 7.

Almost all attacks were intercepted over the Red Sea.

No injuries were reported from the projectiles. Israel Fire and Rescue Services are working to extinguish fires caused by falling projectiles in open areas.

PARENTS OF 22-YEAR-OLD AMERICAN CAPTURED BY HAMAS SAY: “THEY ARE CAPTURING OUR CHILDREN”

Since the war between Israel and Hamas began nearly a year ago, terrorist groups funded by Iran and RITS have attacked Israeli and U.S. targets, prompting retaliatory strikes by Israel and its Western allies.

Iran supports terror groups across the region – Hamas, the Houthis and Lebanon's Hezbollah – which have fired shots at Israel almost daily since the Gaza war began more than 11 months ago. Iran and its allies have said their actions are a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians.

In July, an Iranian-made drone launched by the Houthis attacked Tel Aviv, killing one person and wounding ten others. In response, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Houthis-controlled areas in Yemen.

The Houthis have also repeatedly attacked commercial vessels in the Red Sea, claiming that this is a blockade by Israel in support of the Palestinians. However, most of the ships attacked have no connection to Israel.

Tens of thousands of people on both sides of the Israeli-Lebanese border have been displaced as a result of the attacks.
