It was shaping up to be an entertaining matchup between the reigning Super Bowl champions and a team looking to get back to that point, but after the Bengals' performance in their first game of the season, this could be a laughing matter.

When Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati offense hosted the re-forming New England Patriots last Sunday, they were inefficient to say the least. They lost the ball twice and seemed out of shape for most of the game, leading to a 16-10 loss. For a team that had high expectations with the return of a healthy quarterback, a loss to such a team wasn't on many people's cards.

The Chiefs came out of the starting blocks almost as expected. In a hard-fought battle with the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener, timely defensive stops and solid play from Patrick Mahomes and the offense helped Kansas City start the season with a 27-20 victory. After losing the 2023 season opener, a 1-0 start for KC is a pleasing sight.

This will be the 35th meeting between the Bengals and the Chiefs. KC has won three of the last five meetings, including the 2022 AFC title game and the regular-season clash last December.

MY CHOICE: Chiefs win, 28-17
