The scandal surrounding Mette-Marit's son Marius is shaking up the Norwegian royal family. Now the first steps are being taken against him.

Oslo – The scandal surrounding Marius Borg Høiby (27) continues to make waves. The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit (51) was arrested on August 4, 2024, for allegedly physically and psychologically attacking a young woman. A few days later, he even admitted the crime in an official letter, as well as his drug addiction. He wants to take responsibility for his actions. The first consequences are now following.

So far, there has been little sign of remorse. Mette-Marit's son Marius has even started popping the corks again. There are also some questions about the relationship with the victim. It was unclear whether she was his ex-girlfriend or his girlfriend. But now it has been revealed: the victim has obtained a temporary restraining order against Marius.

Her lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen confirmed this to VGThe temporary injunction is valid until March 2025. In conversation with Evening post The lawyer also explains that her client initially did not want to take this step. But that has now changed. “It was deemed necessary, but I have no further comments,” says Larsen.

The police also confirmed that Marius had agreed to the temporary injunction: “The basis for the temporary injunction is that the victim wants it.” Otherwise, the Oslo Police Department does not want to comment on the background of the temporary injunction.” It came into force on September 2nd.

What consequences could the scandalous son of the Norwegian Crown Princess expect? In an interview with the Norwegian television station TV2 Lawyers assess the case. The range of assumptions ranges from fines to prison sentences. “21 to 30 days [Haft, Anm. d. Red.] – provided the violence is limited,” explains lawyer Stian Trones Bråstein. However, individual cases also come into play. Lawyer Marijana Lozic also knows this: “If it is a case of strangulation or a blow to the face, a prison sentence is threatened.”
