Security guard allegedly fired shots at the ground during an argument outside an I-Drive hotel

ORANGE COUNTY, Florida. – A man arrested Thursday is accused of firing shots at the ground during an altercation outside the I-Drive hotel where he works as a security guard, Orlando police said.

According to the records, 46-year-old Micheal Tillman is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.

Officers were called around 6:12 p.m. after an Orange County deputy driving past the Howard Johnson Hotel reported hearing a gunshot and seeing people running away, according to Tillman's affidavit.

Multiple witness statements confirmed that Tillman was talking to a 26-year-old man in the hotel parking lot before becoming hostile, going upstairs and returning with a handgun, the affidavit said. Tillman is then accused of firing the gun at the ground, police said.

A single shell casing was found on the ground, but Tillman reportedly told police he had since given the gun to someone who drove away from the scene. Tillman otherwise confirmed he fired one shot into the ground, adding that he did so to show several others “that he meant business,” the affidavit states.
