Woman stabbed to death in South LA, son fights off suspect, police say

A woman was stabbed and another man injured in an attack in South Los Angeles on Friday evening.

It happened around 9 p.m. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were called to the 100 block of 94th Street. When they arrived, they found the two people with stab wounds.

According to officials, the man and woman, both 35 years old, were sitting in a car when the suspect approached the car. Then, officials say, he stabbed the man in the car.

The woman in the car ran away, but the suspect chased her and stabbed her multiple times. Officials said the woman's son pushed the attacker away from her before running away.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took both victims to the hospital. The woman was later pronounced dead; the man remains hospitalized and is in stable condition.

Friday's attacker is still at large. Police are still searching for him but did not provide a detailed description. The LAPD told FOX 11 that the attack may have been a domestic incident.
