Erik ten Hag announces team news for Southampton vs Man Utd

The home team will be without goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and striker Kamaldeen Sulemana, but Ben Brereton Diaz is available despite being substituted early on as part of his international duty for Chile.

Scottish striker Ross Stewart is close to returning from a long injury layoff and could join the squad for the game along with new signings Maxwel Cornet and Ryan Fraser.

“Maxwel is in the squad,” confirmed coach Martin at his press conference to preview the match. “Everyone is pretty fit now, apart from Kamaldeen. We have a big squad and there will be a lot of selection issues when it comes to getting into the squad, not to mention the starting eleven.”

“It is not an injury [for Brereton Diaz]so I guess the coach has his own reasons, but it's not my job to call the Chilean coach and find out why Ben is out. We have a lot of guys who went away and had a good time. Thankfully they all came back injury free. I think that's all you can ask for as a coach after an international break.”
