The chaotic scenes unfolded on St. Anne's Place just after 8 p.m. on September 5. One surveillance video shows a woman walking up to the front door and hitting it with a baseball bat. Another camera shows the same woman repeatedly hitting the side door while four other people stand nearby.

Eureka Riser, 33, of Minneapolis, is charged with rioting and criminal damage. Police also announced Friday night the arrest of a 35-year-old man for his involvement.

Other people seen with her on the surveillance video have not been identified.

A violent attack on a homeless shelter in north Minneapolis left three people injured and a woman in jail facing felony charges.

He said a dispute over a parking space led to the incident, which left two guests and a staff member injured.

Another person also pointed a gun at the animal shelter, the public prosecutor's office said.

Murphy said Riser's arrest, which came a week after the attack, should have happened sooner.

“I don't understand why these arrests couldn't have happened at that moment,” he said. “We were the ones who called 911, and they [police] I spoke to them first and they even apologized for the broken glass on the sidewalk.”

He said the shelter, which is temporarily closed for safety reasons, is considering installing bulletproof glass and other security improvements.

In a statement Friday, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said, “This violent attack on some of the most vulnerable members of our community, homeless women and children, in a place they had gone to seek shelter and safety, cannot be tolerated.”

What happens next?

Minneapolis police said more arrests were possible.
