Nicole Kidman speaks out after the death of her mother

Nicole Kidman thanks her fans and friends for their support as she continues to struggle with the death of her mother Janelle Ann Kidman.

“My sister and I, together with our family, would like to thank you for the great love and kindness we have felt this week,” the actress wrote in a joint statement with her younger sister Antonia on Instagram.

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our mother has meant more to us than we can ever put into words,” the post continued. “Thank you from our entire family for respecting our privacy as we care for each other.” Dream couple The star combined her message with rare family photos.

Some of Kidman's friends expressed their condolences in the comments. “My deepest condolences to you and the family. I am blessed to have been in their presence. Rest in peace,” Lenny Kravitz wrote. Natalie Portman also commented, writing, “I am so sorry for your loss Nic. Sending you lots of love.” Naomi Watts added, “I am so sorry for your loss. Your wonderfully spirited mother will be missed by so many. Hopefully she is now peacefully reunited with your daddy xxx I love you.”

The news of Kidman’s mother’s death came as the actress was receiving an award for her work in Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival last Saturday. Director Halina Reijn accepted the award on Kidman's behalf and read a statement from the star explaining the events.

“I am in shock and need to be with my family, but this award is for her,” Kidman wrote of Reijn. “I am eternally grateful to be able to tell you all her name. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”
