20-year-old from Jacksonville dies in accident after driving into closed area on First Coast Expressway: FHP

DUVAL COUNTY, Florida. – A 20-year-old Jacksonville man died Thursday evening in a crash on State Road 23, also known as the First Coast Expressway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to police, the 20-year-old was driving south on the outside lane of SR-23 at around 6:30 p.m., approaching mile marker 34. Meanwhile, a pickup truck and another car were parked in the outside lane of the road behind an accident site cordoned off with guardrails.

According to FHP, the man continued driving through the cordoned off accident scene and eventually collided with the rear of the pickup truck.

The impact pushed the pickup truck forward and it collided with the rear of the third car parked in front of it.

The 20-year-old man died at the scene of the accident, the FHP said.
