Attacker must go to prison for stabbing man in the face

An attacker with a knife left his victim with permanent scars after stabbing him in the face.

At Warwick Crown Court, 23-year-old Max Gall, of Lodge Road, Rugby, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

In May, the victim – a man in his twenties – was stabbed in the face following an altercation at a house party in Trussell Way.

After a disagreement at the party, Gall followed the victim out into the street and attacked him.

When rescue workers found the victim, he had serious injuries and was unconscious. He suffered permanent scars.

Det Cons Regan Austin, of Warwickshire Police CID, said: “This incident shows once again that carrying a knife is of no use.

“One young man has a lasting memory of the attack and another will serve a long prison sentence. All of this is because of Gall's decision to carry a knife.

“The victim lost a significant amount of blood in this attack and things could easily have been much worse.

“I hope this verdict provides reassurance that the police will not tolerate this type of violent behaviour in Warwickshire.

“There is no excuse for carrying a weapon on the street. We will continue to work hard to combat serious violence and highlight the consequences of carrying a knife.”
