73-year-old pedestrian killed in van crash in Auburn, police seek more information

A 73-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in a car crash in Auburn on Thursday evening, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a collision at 8:17 p.m. on Edgewood Road east of Blitz Lane, where a Ford van struck a pedestrian in the eastbound lane.

Emergency responders attempted to save the life of the woman, who lived in Orangevale, before the woman was pronounced dead at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

The woman is expected to be identified by the Placer County Coroner's Office once her relatives have been notified.

The CHP Auburn office is investigating the accident and asks anyone with information to call investigators at 916-663-3344.
