The TTSC Warmisried remains the table tennis flagship

Timo Boll's tears of farewell at the Olympic Games in Paris have just dried and a new star in German women's table tennis seems to be rising in Annett Kaufmann. Now the league routine is starting again under the roofs of the Unterallgäu halls. Technical progress is also increasingly making inroads around the tables.

From now on, the digital match report is a medium that is increasingly used in all leagues and is replacing the ancient, analogue match report form. In the Unterallgäu region, the clubs from Hasberg to Warmisried and Wiedergeltingen to Markt Rettenbach will start playing in the last two weeks of September.

The changes made in recent years to four-man teams, with a reduction in playing time and a fixed number of games, have now been well received by many active players. “This means there is still a little time during the week for socializing after the game,” adds Florian Mayer, head of department at TTSC Warmisried. His club has been able to increase the number of teams for the coming season. A total of twelve teams will be taking part, from the district class D to the Southwest Association League. In addition to the men, the women will also be represented in the Association League again.

Two Warmisried teams play in the association league

TTSC Warmisried A total of four youth, three women's and five men's teams will compete on the tables. In addition, two teams are registered in the school league that prepares for the competition. After a respectable fourth place, the men will go into the next season in the association league – with the tried and tested line-up. Alongside top player Nico Holzheu, Thomas Brenner will serve in the front pair. The well-rehearsed quartet is completed by Florian Mayer and Christian Schindler. Together with TSV Schwabmünchen II, TV Dillingen and PSV Augsburg, they want to hold the Swabian flag high in the Southwest Association League. The two Munich talent factories, SpVgg Thalkirchen III and TSV Gräfelfing III, are considered the title favorites. “The league has become a little closer and stronger, so the task of finishing in the midfield again is not getting any smaller,” says captain Thomas Brenner.

After a few years of absence, the TTSC ladies are back in the association league. The quartet around the experienced Barbara Lutz will gain a foothold after being promoted to the association league. The players around Carmen Mayer can present two new additions. Anna and Lilly Schindele, a young, talented brother and sister, are joining the squad from TSV Oberstdorf. Together with Annalena Richter, they form the core team and want to avoid relegation.

The second player of the men's team, led by Marion Fackler, will be playing in the District League Group 2 East with the same line-up. In addition to Fackler, Maik Kümmerling, Andreas Hölzle and Udo Link form the core of the team. The only realistic goal here is to stay in the league. The third team, led by captain Thomas Sontheimer, also wants to stay in the league, which will certainly be a big challenge in the Unterallgäu top division. TSV Mindelheim is already the favorite for the championship, especially since the Frundsberg team has significantly strengthened its squad with Thomas Handloser and Chousein Amet.

In District Class B, the fourth men's team led by Tobias Linder wants to get back into the top half of the table. After TTV Dirlewang's promotion, friendly neighborhood duels are taking place again. The fifth men's team is led by Patrick Holzheu as captain this season. The aim here is to get over the painful relegation and attack again in District Class C.

In the second and third women's teams, many players are to gain match practice in the district class A North. Therefore, the primary goal of the two young teams led by team leaders Daniela Hörmann and Anett Sontheimer is to ensure that they get along well with one another. “The women have been loyal to the sport since their youth and are thus flying the flag in women's team sport despite the dramatic resistance from women's teams across the country. This alone is absolutely good news and I hope that this fresh wind will spread to others as well,” says department head Florian Mayer, adding: “We are looking forward to the coming season. Looking at the youth sector in particular is a lot of fun at the moment. Coaches and players alike are training hard. However, there is also a lot of work behind it and we are trying to highlight this around the youth coaches.”

TSV Mindelheim recorded two top-class new signings

TTF Bad Wörishofen TTF Bad Wörishofen have registered a total of seven teams, who will be competing in the men's district league with one team and want to have a say in what appears to be a very balanced league. The two reserves from Warmisried and Kneippstadt will be competing in the district league group 2 East. This league is also made up of eleven very balanced teams.

TSV Mindelheim The men's team from TSV Mindelheim is the favorite to win the championship after missing out on promotion to the Unterallgäu district class A. Thomas Handloser and Chousein Amet are also returning to their hometown after their guest appearance at SC Siegertshofen and are strengthening the team from Frundsberg. A large number of the Unterallgäu clubs that have traveled to the team are also represented here, such as two teams each from TTF Bad Wörishofen and SC BW Ettringen, TTC Haselbach, TTC Oberneufnach and the third team from TTSC Warmisried.
