Three people were injured in a knife attack in Friedland (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district) late Thursday evening. According to police, the suspect is a 31-year-old from Tajikistan.

A man attacks a 33-year-old Ukrainian woman with a knife, two men intervene. The attack took place on Thursday evening in Friedland near Neubrandenburg. The police are investigating based on a relationship statistic.

Verbal argument escalates

According to police, the 31-year-old suspect from Tajikistan had a verbal argument with the Ukrainian woman in the street before the attack. During the argument, the man suddenly attacked the 33-year-old with a knife, injuring her so badly that she had to be taken to hospital.

Witnesses intervene

Two German men aged 46 and 53 had observed the incident, intervened and were also injured. One of the two was so seriously injured that he also had to be taken to hospital. There is currently no arrest warrant against the perpetrator, according to the police. He and the injured Ukrainian woman were in a “couple-like relationship”. The reason for this crime is now being investigated.
