Kenyans are deeply mourning the death of six students who were killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Kitui-Kibwezi road.

On Friday, September 13, three students from Kyaoni Primary School and three from Kyaoni Secondary School were beaten up at Wiitu Shopping Centre.

Vincent Loctary Lomachary, deputy district commissioner of Ithitha, said the students were hit by a speeding Probox driver while crossing the road at 6.20am.

Lomachary said the Probox driver fled the scene of the accident and later surrendered at Mutomo police station.

The deaths of the young souls have deeply shocked many Kenyans, as only a few days earlier, 21 students were killed in a fire incident in Nyeri.

Kenyans mourned the death of the six students and said the country's frequent accidents were a cause for concern.
