1 dead in car-pedestrian collision in La Crosse County

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WEAU) – One person is dead in a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in La Crosse County.

According to the Onalaska Police Department, authorities responded to a car crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Main Street and 11th Avenue South at 11:02 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024.

According to Onalaska Police, a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Megan Urch stopped at the intersection. The victim, 83-year-old Darlene Wozney, was found lying in the roadway in front of the vehicle. Wozney was crossing Main Street in the crosswalk at 11th Avenue South when she was struck.

According to Onalaska police, medical personnel attempted to save Wozney's life and she was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Urch was reportedly uninjured and showed no signs of impairment.
