Traffic stop in Barrie leads to investigation into drug and weapons possession

A man and a woman are facing multiple drug and weapons charges after a fully loaded handgun was confiscated during a traffic stop in Barrie, according to police.

According to police, officers stopped a vehicle suspected of being driven by a drunk driver late last week and discovered the weapon as well as cash and suspected drugs.

Officers arrested the occupants, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Bradford.

Following a bail hearing, the man was remanded in custody while the woman was released on the promise of a court date at a later date.
