Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Bristol Rovers and Wigan Athletic, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

The Latics have four points after four games, while the Gas have seven points from their five games in League One.

After finishing 15th last season, Bristol Rovers will be looking to build on this and be in the top half of the table in 2024–25.

The Gas are currently in ninth place, having won two, drawn one and lost two of their first five league games.

Matt Taylor's away trip to Oakwell last weekend was disappointing, suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat and picking up just one point from their first three away games.

With this in mind, Bristol Rovers are keen to return to the four walls of the Memorial Stadium, where they have won both of their home league games this season without conceding a goal.

The hosts will be looking to produce a similar performance to their last home game against Wigan in September last year, when they recorded a convincing 4-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Wigan made a disappointing start to the 2024–25 season, managing just one win in their first six competitive matches.

They began the season with league defeats to Charlton Athletic and Reading, before losing on penalties to Barnsley in the EFL Cup.

Although the Latics got off to a good start with a 1-0 win against Crawley Town, they have suffered disappointment in their last two games, losing to Birmingham City and Morecambe in the league and EFL Trophy respectively.

Wigan will be looking to spark a positive reaction with their first away win of the season when they play at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

The Latics have won two of their last three meetings with Bristol Rovers, including a 2-0 victory in the home game between the two sides in April.

We think: Bristol Rovers 2-0 Wigan Athletic

Bristol Rovers have picked up maximum points in their first two home league games and we believe they will give their fans another home win to celebrate, especially with Wigan having lost their first two away games this season.
