Rich Homie Quan's family releases a statement on the rapper's death

The family of late rapper Rich Homie Quan has released a statement following the star’s tragic death earlier this month.

“On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend. Dequantes Devontay Lamar, known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia and represented the A's as he and his music traveled this globe. While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing that his music and triumphant spirit lives on,” the statement said.

A recently released incident report from the Atlanta Police Department states that Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died in his home on September 5 at the age of 33.

Quan's brother said he found the rapper sleeping on the kitchen floor with food in his mouth earlier that night. He then laid his brother on the couch.

Quan's girlfriend, Amber Williams, woke up to find him not in the bedroom. She found him sleeping on the couch and left the house to take her son to school. She then took a nap and went to the couch to check on him. There she found his body lifeless and cold. She called 911.

The family statement continued: “Quan's legacy will forever be enshrined as the soundtrack of our lives. And for that, we are grateful. Details of the celebration will be announced shortly. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support during this difficult time.”
