Report: IDF landed ground troops to destroy Syrian facility

New details about the massive attack in Syria were revealed on Thursday by Greek journalist Eva Koulouriotis, who covers the Middle East, citing the words of a “security source” regarding the operation, which was allegedly carried out by Israeli special forces at around 11 p.m. on Sunday and in which several explosions were reported across Syria.

According to Koulouriotis, Israeli special forces arrived by helicopter at the military facility near the Syrian district of Masyaf, which Israel has often attacked in the past, landed there and eventually destroyed it from the inside.

At the same time, fighter jets are attacking the roads leading to the facility to prevent regime forces from accessing it. Experts believe that the facility is used to develop ballistic missiles and supply equipment to Hezbollah.

The source said the operation lasted about an hour, during which time ground troops were able to collect documents and destroy the facility from the inside. Koulouriotis described the operation as a significant development in the Middle East.

25 reportedly killed in suspected Israeli attacks in Syria

Earlier, the director of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdulrahman, was interviewed on the Saudi channel. Al-Hadath and said that “intensive attacks and four rounds of attacks were carried out in areas in Masyaf, including a scientific research center, while the fourth wave of attacks hit the city and a target in the sea off the coast of Baniyas.” According to him, 16 people were killed, including four civilians.

“This is the most comprehensive and devastating attack by Israel on Syria in at least two years,” he said. “The Syrian Scientific Research Center is responsible for developing medium-range precision missiles, according to intelligence sources. In addition, the facility is responsible for developing the drones that Hezbollah and others use.” Abdulraman also said that the attack severely limits Hezbollah's military capabilities in Syria and affects the terrorist organization's ability to move weapons from Syria to Lebanon.
