Three men were arrested as part of an investigation into child sexual abuse

Three men were arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a girl over 16 years ago.

West Yorkshire Police said the men, two aged 38 and one 39, were arrested in the Halifax area as part of an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children in Calderdale.

The crimes are said to have taken place between 2006 and 2008.

Police said all three men had been released on bail pending a “full investigation”.

Det Ch Insp Clare Smith said: “We are committed to tackling the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.”

“It is a heinous crime that affects the most vulnerable in our society.”

She said police had “considerable experience” in investigating cases of sexual exploitation of children, both young and old, and urged any victims to come forward.
