Dawn shootout in Salmiya as authorities clash with armed suspect

KUWAIT CITY, September 12: At dawn, Salmiya was the scene of a major security incident that resulted in a shootout between Hawalli Investigations and an armed suspect.

The officer was injured in the ear by a suspect who attempted to flee into nearby buildings. Hawalli Governorate investigators quickly surrounded and pursued the suspect, eventually arresting him and confiscating the firearm used in the incident. The suspect is currently under investigation. The injured officer was taken to hospital, treated there, and has since been released.
