Family of five dies in truck accident on way back from visiting sick relative

  • Five members of a family, including a three-year-old baby, were killed in a tragic accident involving their car and a truck in Chidambaram area.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 12, when a truck collided with a car, killing 56-year-old Mohammed Anwar, the driver Yasser Arafat – also a relative -, two women and a three-year-old baby.

According to India Today, the victims were returning from Chennai, where they had visited a sick relative, when their car was hit by a truck on the way from Chidambaram to Cuddalore, police said.

What was the cause of the Chidambaram accident in which five people lost their lives?

The truck lost control and crashed into her vehicle.

Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, arrived at the scene and had to recover the bodies from the rubble before they were taken to Chidambaram Government Hospital for postmortem.

Daijiworld added that local residents reported frequent accidents in the area and attributed them to the lack of barriers, especially in view of the ongoing construction work on the Villupuram Nagai National Highway.

A senior police officer from Cuddalore observed that traffic discipline was often neglected, especially at night, which was aggravated by a shortage of policemen and poor surveillance.

In other news, a liquefied natural gas tanker went out of control on the Mahiu Escarpment in May and rammed a 14-seater Galaxy matatu.

One person died and several others were injured. They were brought back to Nairobi for urgent treatment.

The accident caused a traffic jam on the road; police later arrived to document the accident scene.
