THE The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has charged Samardeep Dhami, 22, of Surrey, and Randy Chu, 40, of Burnaby, in connection with an investigation into alleged drug trafficking in the Lower Mainland in 2023.

In June 2023, CFSEU-BC initiated an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking network, which resulted in the execution of several search warrants at locations in Richmond, Burnaby and Surrey in August 2023.

The search warrants lead to the seizure of:
* 12.7 kg methamphetamine, 4.7 kg fentanyl, 1.6 kg cocaine, 1.6 kg ketamine and 1 kg cutting agent;
* 9 kg of cocaine from a hidden aftermarket compartment found in a vehicle;
* 79,050 Canadian dollars;
* Drug paraphernalia related to drug trafficking.

On August 27, 2024, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) filed charges against Dhami and Chu.

Dhami was charged with possession of fentanyl, flurofentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and/or ketamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Chu was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Both Dhami and Chu were arrested and released on conditional bail pending the outcome of their legal proceedings.

“The collaboration between CFSEU-BC and partner agencies is critical in combating criminal activity associated with organized crime. We remain committed to holding drug traffickers accountable who prey on the most vulnerable citizens of our communities by trafficking potentially deadly fentanyl and other substances,” said Sgt. Brenda Winpenny, CFSEU-BC press officer.
