Cruise: Birthday party ended tragically – child (12) fell to his death

A cruise is a dream come true for many people, but for one boy and his family the trip turned into a nightmare. The 12-year-old is said to have fallen onto his head from a balcony on the 13th floor of the “Harmony of the Seas” and died shortly afterwards.

According to the specialist portal “Cruise Radio”, he was on the cruise ship with his parents and two sisters to celebrate a birthday. When the fatal accident occurred at the weekend, the steamer was on its way back to Galveston in the US state of Texas.

The luxury ship was on a seven-day tour of the Caribbean with thousands of passengers on board. Galveston in Texas was supposed to be the final stop, but the boy died before the ship reached the port. According to Bild, Royal Caribbean has already confirmed the fatal incident on the Harmony of Seas. The shipping company is now in contact with the family.

Some witnesses claim to have seen the fall with their own eyes. According to Cruise Radio, passengers saw the boy playing with other children. They had to push chairs against the balcony and may have climbed onto the balcony railing. On Facebook, a woman said she was also on the cruise. They cannot say for sure whether it was an accident or a deliberate jump.

Crew members tried to resuscitate the teenager immediately, but help came too late. Civilian police officers began their investigation during the crossing. The cruise company then informed the next passengers that their trip was delayed due to an investigation.
