2 people and 1 dog dead after shooting Tuesday morning near Mackenzie Park

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Metro Special Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting in East Lubbock that left two people and a dog dead.

At 8:18 a.m. on September 10, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting in the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive.

There, officers found 55-year-old Angel Aleman lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers then found 47-year-old Lydia Hernandez with serious injuries. She was taken to UMC, where she later died.

Police also found a dead dog belonging to Aleman at the crime scene.

The Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Unit and the LPD Forensics Unit assisted in the investigation.

The police assume that no arrests have been made and that this is an isolated incident.
