Two people escape death when a truck overturns in Machakos

Three people escaped death when the truck they were travelling in overturned on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Machakos County.

The trio, which included the driver of the vehicle and two turn boys, escaped unhurt in the incident which occurred at Devki Stage in Athi River on Wednesday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle took a bend in the underpass on Mombasa Road.

“The vehicle was travelling from Nairobi towards the town of Athi River when it overturned; none of the occupants were injured,” an eyewitness at the scene told the Star shortly after the incident.

The truck was transporting cable scrap when the accident occurred.

Traffic police officers from Athi River Police Station arrived at the scene, processed the accident and cleared it before the motor vehicle was towed to the station for examination.
