ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) – One man died and two people were injured in a head-on collision in Alcoa on Saturday, according to Alcoa Police.

The accident happened around 10 p.m., according to APD, on Alcoa Highway near the Green Acres Flea Market. Police said an officer saw a white 2003 Toyota Avalon driving the wrong way and nearly colliding with a car.

“The officer attempted to catch up with the vehicle and reported that the vehicle had collided head-on with another car, a gray 2019 Nissan Altima,” APD said.

The Avalon driver, 45-year-old Jose Ramos, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and later died, APD said.

Two others, 19-year-old Aden Brown and Casey Claiborne, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and later released, police said.

Ramos is believed to have been drinking, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call 865-380-4918 or email [email protected].
