JPD officers are actively searching for a suspect after a 30-year-old woman was found shot to death in a north Jackson hotel Monday night.

Press Secretary Tommie Brown issued a press release Tuesday evening stating that officers were called to the OYO Townhouse at 593 Beasley Road at approximately 9:47 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Brown identified the victim as Susana Resendiz, a 30-year-old Hispanic woman. Brown said Resendiz died at the scene from fatal gunshot wounds.

Brown said Resendiz's death is the 80th homicide of the year that the JPD is investigating.

According to Brown, there is an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Reynaldo Resendiz Mendoza, the suspect in the case.

“(Reynaldo) is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact police,” Brown said.
