Underwater shooting of Jr. NTR's solo release after 6 years; Everything we know about the big Telugu action film

New Delhi: The much-awaited trailer of Devara Part 1 was released on Tuesday evening amid much fanfare. The trailer of the film, which stars Jr. NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, seems to have kept the story under wraps. While fans are playing guessing games on social media platforms like X and Reddit, here's what we know about the film.

Jr. NTR plays double role

Like many southern fare like Indian 2, GOAT and Devara, Jr. NTR will also be seen in a double role. As is clear from the posters and trailer, Jr. NTR plays both father and son in the film Devara. While the father's role is that of the 'protector of the seas' who is feared and revered somewhere, his son's role is just the opposite.

Saif Ali Khan, as always, plays the arch enemy in the form of a looter

Saif plays Bhaira, a wrestling expert who hails from a coastal village known for pirates. A scene in the trailer shows them looting ships, killing coast guards and causing riots. It is only because of Devara that they learn to fear him. However, it is implied that Bhaira befriends Devara and then turns into a traitor, plotting his downfall so that he can continue his looting.

Janhvi Kapoor's highly anticipated debut in the South

Janhvi Kapor's debut in the South alongside 'Devara: Part 1' is a much talked about affair. Like her late mother and former superstar, Janhvi seems to be following in her footsteps. Janhvi plays the role of Vara, her son's lover, she is called Thangam.

At the trailer launch of the film, Janhvi described working in a Telugu film as her 'ghar wapsi' (homecoming). The 'Mili' actor will also be seen next with Ram Charan.

38 days of underwater photography

As we know that Devara is being funded on a huge budget, the film with its action scenes and several underwater sequences has been shot underwater using the latest technology. Jr. NTR while launching the trailer claimed that the cast shot for 38 days underwater and 60 days above ground just to get the action sequences right.

The Telugu superstar also claimed that he “hated” the final shot of the trailer where we see him riding a shark because he was stuck in a tank for an entire day to get the scene right.

Jr. NTR's big solo film to release almost after 6 years

Jr. NTR's last solo film was 'Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava', directed by Trivikram Srinivas. 'Devara: Part 1' will be Jr. NTR's first solo release, which his fans have also been eagerly waiting for. Jr. NTR will also be seen with Hrithik Roshan in 'War 2'. This will also be his Bollywood debut.

Devara also stars Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain and Shruti Marathe. The film is slated to release on September 27, 2024.

‘Devara’ also has a budget of Rs 300 crore and was produced by several companies, including Karan Johar’s ‘Dharma’.
