Chandler Police Release Bodycam Video of May Shooting

CHANDLER, Arizona. – Chandler Police released bodycam footage of a police-involved shooting that occurred nearly four months ago.

The footage shows a man, later identified as 45-year-old Ruben Lopez, holding two knives in the backyard of a Chandler home.

For about 30 minutes, Chandler police tried to negotiate with Lopez to get him to surrender his weapons.

Since the video contains sensitive content, the viewer is advised to exercise discretion.

In the video, Lopez can be heard repeatedly telling police to “use bullets” in their attempts to subdue him.

Police are seen using stun guns and pepper spray to try to get Lopez to drop the knives.

Finally he runs to the police, is shot by police officers and dies.
