Man charged after teenager reports decades of sexual abuse in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Lincoln police have arrested a man after a teenager claimed she was sexually abused for 10 years, court records show.

On Sunday, 38-year-old Franwil Castillo was arrested. He is accused of first-degree sexual abuse of a child, possession of child pornography, creation of child pornography and two other sex crimes.

A 17-year-old girl spoke to a Lincoln Police officer on April 11 to file a report. According to an affidavit, she told the officer that she had been sexually abused by Castillo.

Investigators later questioned the girl after forensic examinations and came to believe that Castillo had abused the girl since she was seven years old.

They wrote that Castillo “used physical force to compel obedience” and instructed the girl “never to tell her mother.” The affidavit states that Castillo abused the girl “countless times” until Jan. 19.

Authorities contacted Castillo on Friday and interviewed him later over the weekend. Police were able to confirm the assaults and also determined that Castillo had recorded at least one instance of abuse on his phone, the affidavit states.

Castillo was subsequently taken into custody and formally arraigned on Monday. At his arraignment, a Lancaster County judge set his bail at 10% of $1,500,000.

He is expected back in court on October 8.
