Police in Providence arrest several people following incidents

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island State Police made several arrests Monday following various incidents, including a car crash, a surrender and response to civil unrest.

At 8:16 a.m., police arrested Yeison Montoya Pinto, a 22-year-old resident of East Hartford, Connecticut, on charges of forgery, forgery of license plates, and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

The arrest followed an investigation into a car crash on Route 6.

Later that morning, at 11:16 a.m., Aaliyah Rodriguez, also 22, of Central Falls, Rhode Island, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) after turning herself in at Lincoln Woods Barracks.

The arrest warrant was the result of an investigation by the Rhode Island State Police Traffic Safety Unit.

That afternoon, at 3:34 p.m., 25-year-old Jose Santiago of Providence, Rhode Island, was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing a police officer during a traffic stop on Chalkstone Avenue.

At 8:36 p.m., Nayah Brookes, 31, of Central Falls, was arrested and charged with resisting law enforcement, disturbing the peace and malicious trespassing after state police were called to Lincoln Woods State Park to assist park rangers.

The final arrest of the day occurred at 11:30 p.m. when Carl Sears, a 31-year-old Providence resident, was arrested on a warrant for domestic violence, vandalism and disorderly conduct.

The arrest was made following a vehicle stop on Charles Street and Sears was later transported to the Pawtucket Police Department.

All persons were tried at Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned in the district courts.
