Chester Bennington's son receives death threats from Linkin Park fans after criticising new lead singer Emily Armstrong

Chester Bennington's son Jaime has revealed that he is receiving death threats from Linkin Park fans after publicly criticizing the band's new lead singer, Emily Armstrong.

The son of Chester, who committed suicide on July 20, 2017 at the age of 41, said in his Instagram stories On Sunday, he said he was opposed to Armstrong, 38, taking his late father's place in the ensemble, more than seven years after his tragic death.

Jaime, 28, said he found Armstrong's ties to Scientology, as well as his past support of actor Danny Masterson, who was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison for rape, problematic.

Now Jaime has shared shocking messages from internet trolls who told him to “kill himself like his father did” – and claimed he fears for his life if he takes part in Linkin Park's new tour.

He also claimed that Chester's bandmate Mike Shinoda blocked him amid his public rants on Instagram.

Jaime said about the band:hey, you didn't ask me how I feel, They didn’t offer me a ticket, there are reasons why they might not let me go” – referring to the band's upcoming show on September 11th at the Kia Forum in LA.

'I I want to go, but I don't want to pay $500… there are a lot of people who don't like me at the moment, I don't know if I would feel safe going to the general admissions office because I don't know who I'm with

“I have to go and see it…the band should have offered me a ticket.”

He claimed that Shinoda had “stalked my page” and accused Linkin Park of behaving “cruelly, unusually and aggressively” towards him.

He also shared a message from a follower who threatened to “find” him at the concert.

Jaime said he believes attending the concert will provide “a cathartic closure” for him as he continues to grieve the loss of his father.

He had previously said: “People have no trouble coming to terms with the prospect of Linkin Park reinventing themselves,” Jaime said on Sunday, according to Page Six.

He added: “You are struggling to understand how you: 1) hired your long-time friend @emilyarmstrong to [Chester].'

Jaime said the music group “refused to acknowledge the impact that comes with hiring someone like Emily.” Emily has since stated that she “misjudged” Masterson's situation and believed she was “supporting a friend.”

Jaime said Shinoda, 47, chose the wrong time when he announced that Armstrong would join the band in September, which is Suicide Prevention Month.

Jaime said Shinoda and his associates had “quietly wiped out [his] your father's life and legacy in real time” and “abused the trust that has been placed in you for decades by fans and supporters, myself included.”

He added: “We trusted that you were the bigger and better person… because you promised us that was your intention. Now you are just senile and insensitive. Insane.”

Armstrong, who once fronted the group Dead Sara, said in Instagram Stories on Sunday that she should not have supported Masterson by attending one of his court hearings.

“I always try to see the good in people and I misjudged him,” she said. “I've never spoken to him since.”

“Unimaginable details came to light when he was later found guilty. To be as clear as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women and I have compassion for the victims of these crimes.”

The band announced Thursday that it would reform with Armstrong as lead singer and Colin Brittain replacing Rob Bourdon as drummer. Bourdon has “decided to step away from the group,” AP reported.
