The book comes three years after the publication of Haigh’s Mercy Streetawarded as one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post, The New Yorker and that Boston Globe.

Readers can look forward to an equally exciting novel which, according to the book's synopsis, delves into a “thrilling story about family, secret lives and the unbreakable bond between two sisters, the legendary thread that connects them across time and space”.

According to the summary, the accident “reveals the shocking event that ended the Litvaks' marriage and turned Lindsey against them.”

“Estranged from her parents, she confides only in her younger sister Grace, who adopted her from China as a baby,” the synopsis continues. “As Claire and Aaron try to find their way in bustling, cosmopolitan Shanghai, the newly burgeoning Wonder City, they are confronted with disturbing questions about Lindsey's life there, where nothing is as it seems.”
