The latest novel by the author of “Mercy Street” will be in bookstores in spring

The New York Times The bestselling author is back with a thriller that focuses on how an American family deals with its complicated past after being struck by unexpected tragedy. Her next book is scheduled to hit bookstores on April 8, 2025.

The book comes three years after the publication of Haigh’s Mercy Streetawarded as one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post, The New Yorker and that Boston Globe.

Readers can look forward to an equally exciting novel which, according to the book's synopsis, delves into a “thrilling story about family, secret lives and the unbreakable bond between two sisters, the legendary thread that connects them across time and space”.

“Four years after their bitter divorce, Claire and Aaron Litvak receive a call no parent is prepared for: Their 22-year-old daughter, Lindsey, who is teaching English during a college gap year in China, has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident. According to the summary, the accident “reveals the shocking event that ended the Litvaks' marriage and turned Lindsey against them.”

“Estranged from her parents, she confides only in her younger sister Grace, who adopted her from China as a baby,” the synopsis continues. “As Claire and Aaron try to find their way in bustling, cosmopolitan Shanghai, the newly burgeoning Wonder City, they are confronted with disturbing questions about Lindsey's life there, where nothing is as it seems.”
